JUNE 2019 THIS week's PICTURE

Montezuma Castle reorganized : photo by Malcolm Aslett

Another go at Montezuma. The odd thing about this place is that it is far more impressive than a photograph seems to acknowledge. Or at least this photograph.

Mere peasants like myself don't get to visit the actual buildings in the rock face. That's for museum staff and actors in movies and documentaries.

Images from the cliff base don't give an appropriate scale.

But there are other issues here. The cliff is made of strata and should tolerate a bit of joinery. The result of my efforts make the process seem perfunctory.

I left a bit more faceting in the sky just to remind folk this was not a regular image. The variation in colour tones at the cave entrance give a bit of interest.

They mustn't have been the most trusting of souls. I wonder how mormons and carol singers got on when they came peddling their wares? A tough sales patch.

Below is last week's bench.
