WAYNESBORO BUILDING AND WIRES : photo by Malcolm Aslett
Trying for a different feel for things in this one. The deserted building and the telegraph wires were the prominent pieces. I took pictures of the wires from the distance to over my head. It is a faff to put them together when you want them to be continuous. While I was playing around with the shapes in between I used the autofill that is content aware and it produced spindly snake like wires that I liked. I extended and built on that so they rain in the sky. The perpective was changed a bit on the building. I love those Bocklin paintings with mysterious buildings beneath unrealistically blue skies and that is what came to mind. After various tries on the foliage on the right I accepted this version with obvious separations, where the contrasts make the parts like veils at a funeral. Waynesboro is an interesting town struggling with high unemployment and being on the 'wrong side' of the blueridge. I took several that I will be showing this month. Some fantastic murals on large walls that give a different aspect to the town. Gives the place hope. |
