Though the doorway and other shapes appear more or less regular the major part of the construction of this image was distorting the severe perspective of the series. Orginally the upper part showed a steep convergence. I didn't want the sideways eye shape that this inevitably creates. Whatever that quote is by Cezanne about reducing the world to "the cylinder, the sphere and the cone" resonates with me when taking pictures - at least in man made settings. Those basic shapes of the square and the circle are what the world is built on. Putting the visual field back into those forms seems appropriate. Regarding the circle mosaic, I think the curious white thing with red tips that looks like a chicken claw might well be a dove. I am standing looking down on it. Directly above was the porch roof with two circular lights. With the Dove denoting the Holy Ghost this adds up to a Holy Trinity. No, any such symbolism wasn't intended at all. Just saw Colbert talking about Fidget Spinners and the fact they are being condemned as 'heretical objects' with regard to Catholic creed. In less enlightened times they would have told you off for it. This is the first version I did. A second is wider and becomes less controlled at the wings. The two details below are from the orginal though smaller than the finished pixel size. So, unsurprisingly, the original is much bigger.
