January 2012 - THIS week's PICTURE

Sperryville, VA: Joiner photograph by Malcolm Aslett

Bacl to old traditions this week. This is a 'panoramic' of Sperryville, a small place in northern Virginia.

A T junction with the all important restaurant and store at the top to get your vittles.

You can see in the photos below the initial set up. There are three distinct sections and the area covered is about 280 degrees.
One of the troubles was the weather. It was a grey and gloomy day, overcast. So I decided not only to pump up the colours with
the saturation process but to select areas and increase the primary colours. Hence the rather red building in the middle.

There is a pleasant rhythm to this kind of image, an ebb and a flow as things appear close then move away, then approach and then...

The final image is a half-sized detail of the yellow Corner Store as these small, panoramic images are condusive to computer screen viewing.
