STRIPE-JOINERS
Joiner photos need not be bound by a horizontal format. They can be taken lengthwise as in this one of St Albans chapel, floor and roof :
This displays a handy device for coherency - the use of pattern and a distinctive decorative element at the base.The visual field extends over 180 degrees, from above the viewer's head to the ceramic tiles at the foot.
A fish eye lens could capture a similar range but would look very different to this one, created from a series of shots taken on an axis that looks squarely at the roof, altar and floor decoration.
The peculiar perspective of foreground objects is another aspect of this kind of joiner. Notice the dynamic foreshortening of the fence and post in these two photos.
